There needs to be more body positive songs in pop culture and I think this is a great contribution. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT THING.

this is rly cute

#SLAAAAY!!!!!

Holy shit this video is fucking adorable

THE OUTFITS!

can we talk about how happy they all look that is so great

I think it’s great to have body positive songs in pop culture, but I’m not a fan of this song. It appears that she is simply saying that “bigger” girls should love themselves because guys like a little meat on the bones and that “all the boys chase” bigger girls. Firstly, you should never love yourself based on someone else’s standards, because it will inevitably lead to disappointment, and secondly, you cannot stereotype all boys. This gives girls the mindset that they can get any guy and any guy who doesn’t want them is lying to themselves. Just like with women, men are not attracted to all types of girls. Some prefer them skinny. Some love bigger girls. In addition, shaming someone else’s body to promote your own is NOT body positive. Referring to girls as “skinny bitches” is extremely negative and adding “just playing” afterwards does not make it okay.

I’m sorry for the long rant, but please don’t make this out to be something it isn’t.

There’s a point in the song where she basically says, I’m not a Barbie doll, if you’re into Barbie dolls move along bc I’m not it and I felt like that was sort of accepting that not everyone’s gonna be into you (regardless of what you look like).

but I’m 100% with you on your other points (basically exactly what I didn’t like about the song)

The song is adorable sounding but I AM NOT HERE FOR ALL THE SHAMING THAT’S GOING ON HERE!!!

I need body positivity that is intersectional and doesn’t demean other body types in the process thank you very much!
